Video Inspirations (Week 2)

During class we were shown a few videos which showed the possibilities of News and how it will be broadcasted in the future. The first video; A Day Made of Glass is a video I've seen many times before and is a favourite of mine.

The video looks at the technology surrounding interactive surfaces in the home, public spaces and offices etc; the main material to run this technology being glass. Its an interesting concept and could be an incredible way forward in sharing and expressing news globally and locally, however, I can't help but think it might be a little bit impractical and expensive?

The second video shown in the lecture was about what the Future of Communications could be. This video was extremely interesting as it looked at the development of communications from the start of the internet to the point where TV and Radio and Newspapers became obsolete as objects and were all replicated digitally online - thus making online the only place to obtain news. Another interesting point was at the end of the video the Voice believes the majority of virtual experiences will be bought by a single company - "making virtual life the biggest market on the planet". Scary to think that if this does happen in the future - people will interact and become best friends, life long friends and even lovers without leaving the comfort of their computers? Or even that people will be able to experience external events such as the Superbowl or Olympics or relive various battles all digitally without, once again, leaving their home.
